Golf Courses in Vegas

Anyone know of a good golf course to play in Las Vegas? I'll be there from February 23-25 for my brother's bachelor's party and wanted to see if any of you guys have played there before. Obviously, if any of you have played with me, I'm not looking for the most challenging course, but one that is nice and not too far from the Strip. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Remember this?

Ahhh - takes me back! The Myrtle Golf trip!

Easy, plently of great golf courses in Vegas, just don't forget your $$$$. Golf in Vegas tends to be pricey.

But don't forget the Bellagio Buffet - one of my favorite things about Vegas!

P.S. Don't take the smack personally - I just know it drives you Dukies crazy. What's up the the Duke Basketball Report web page - the head Banner is 1-800-905-GEEKS - does that refer to the computer guys or the Duke students - pretty much the same, I guess.

P.S.S. You remember the BLOCK at the Bubble?

Hey Eric, of course, I have no direct personal knowledge of any of the courses in Vegas...but from what I hear (from A & his buds), they are INCREDIBLY expensive, and hard to book a tee-time. Book well in advance, if you can. A's getting majorly old...he wrenched his shoulder but good this past season, and is still feeling the effects. Also, his knee is still bothering him from a Calvary basketball league game over 1.5 yrs ago!!! Youth is over.

Jin, to be honest, I remember the exact play like it were yesterday. We were at the bubble, playing at night in the court furthest from the entrance, I'm about 8 feet to the left of the basket (facing the goal), I dribbling with, I believe, Ed guarding me. I pump fake to the right and Ed is jumping out of his shoes (he's not really that far off the ground), then I do a turn around, and you swat the ball out of my hands from behind. I think we had to take a break from all the laughter, including myself. Even though I got blocked, those nights at the bubble are one of my fondest memories.

I also remember how we OP's never lost even once to the YP's, even at Brian's wedding.

Anyway, Jin, I didn't want to share this, but since you kept bringing up the "block", I will be forced to remind you of the time we were in D.C. playing ball at that court near Pish's church (KOPC, I believe), playing a game against some high school kids from Mike's church, and one of the kids was dribbling down the court, you were "guarding" him and, not only did the kid "break your ankles", but I remember a somewhat portly fellow stumbling to the ground. Ahhhh, memories.

Anyway, thanks for the info about Vegas. I will gourge myself at the Bellagio just for you.

Eric - You humble me, my friend! I do remember that high school kid - not only did he break my ankles, but I also fell backwards on my big butt!

I googled vegas and golf - there do seem to be some golf to be had for reasonable prices, especially in the afternoon (i.e. twilight rates). Sure the premium courses are gonna run 150-250 per round, but there seem to be some affordable playable courses like Red Rock & Siena which at twilight rates seem ok. Plus, as you know, the company that you will be playing with will make any course enjoyable, despite your puny drives.

Hey Eric,

This is what my friend who's played out there a bit said, along with some recommended courses:

"Its pretty difficult to find a inexpensive course in vegas, esp this time of year. A decent golf course will cost around $80-$100. But most of the courses out there are very well maintained.

Angel Park, Las Vegas Golf Club, Painted Desert, Wildhorse."

Good luck!

angel park is cheap (for a reason)... TPC canyons is nice... vegas golf is crazy... cheap is $100... hard to find that... near strip it will cost you $500 (shadow creek and the course at the wynn... not to mention you have stay at the bellagio or at the wynn)... i'd rent if i were you... $30-40 to rent clubs...

good luck... if you play, be sure you have a "desert club"... a club that you won't mind "dinging" when you hit out of the "sand" (rocks)... :)
